As sellers of used forklifts, yard spotters, and other material handling equipment, it is always important to keep an eye on what manufacturers are doing with new equipment. For years Crown has been considered the premier brand for electric narrow aisle forklifts. However, in the past year or so, we have seen Jungheinrich make some big improvements on their technology AND their ability to provide less expensive parts and service. A lot of that is thanks to their partnership with Houston-based Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc (MCFA).
Jungheinrich is able to provide parts through MCFA dealer networks making it cheaper and much quicker to provide parts to customers. That, coupled with some recent innovations to their reach trucks and stock pickers, make them a very good option for any company looking to outfit a warehouse or revamp their fleet.
In late November, Jungheinrich announced some big news, that they won the bid to be the “general contractor for all intralogistics jobs and also as systems integrator” for the new IKEA expansion DC near Moscow, Russia. This is exciting for Jungheinrich as IKEA is a massive company and the expansion at that location is huge including over 200,000 pallet positions.
While it is not clear whether the IKEA DC will be operating all Jungheinrich forklifts, I would not be surprised to see that announced in the future. It makes sense for new warehouse locations to only consider companies that can provide a full service, one-stop-shop, product; everything from racking design, pallet positions, logistics, forklifts, batteries, chargers, etc…
As a used forklift company, we are excited to have the opportunity to sell more used Jungheinrich forklifts as more companies in the US and abroad buy and lease the new Jungheinrich narrow aisle equipment.
